Due to all the snow this week, Alderman at Large Mary Jo Rossetti has cancelled her kickoff event this past Monday night, rescheduled now to Monday March 2. It will be at the new sports bar at Assembly Row, Tony C’s from 6-8 p.m. We are going to be there. She has become very popular as an Alderman, and this is also her first term in office.

On the political side, we told you a couple of weeks ago that Ward 6 Alderman Rebekah Gewirtz was not seeking re-election. We also mentioned that Ward 3 School Board member Adam Sweeting was also not seeking re-election. Well, we also heard that Ward 4 School Committee member Christine Rafael will also not be seeking re-election this year. That’s three so far we heard about who are not running for re-election. Additionally, we heard that Paul Bockleman is considering running for Alderman Ward 6. That would leave his school board seat open. It’s then possible to have four school board seats open for candidates to consider running for. We hope that’s at least more than one in each ward, so we can hear why they are running.

We have to say that DPW Commissioner Stan Koty and his DPW crew has done a great job considering the major snow recently. Our streets overall are in great condition. For any doubters, just travel over to Medford/Arlington and Cambridge (Boston is in its own category) and see for yourself.
